Closing the Loop: Sulphur Concrete Sleepers Recycled After Ten Years in Use

In January 2024, a symbolic milestone confirmed the long-term promise of sulphur concrete: ten sleepers installed in January 2014 were removed from the track after more than ten years in service.

They were replaced with new sulphur concrete sleepers, proving once again the durability, reliability, and consistent performance of this innovative material in real-world railway conditions.

But the story doesn’t end there:
➡️ The ten original sleepers will now be fully recycled to produce new sleepers—with no loss in performance or mechanical properties.
➡️ This marks a truly circular achievement: a product that returns to the production cycle after a full decade of operational use.

A closed loop—tested, proven, and now repeated.
